The processor is the brain of the system, responsible for processing all the information. It is the component which is used the latest technology. Worldwide, there are only four companies with competitive technology to make computer processors: Intel (which dominates more than 70% market share), AMD, Via (which bought the former Cyrix) and IBM, which makes processors for other companies, as Transmeta.
Some of the newer models, and which have the most advanced technology from today are the Intel Sandy Bridge Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, the AMD Fusion and FX, which can include up to 8 cores.
